What is Pediatric Dentistry?

Pediatric dentistry is an age-defined specialty that provides both primary and comprehensive preventive and therapeutic oral health care for infants and children through adolescence, including those with special health care needs.

At Stansbury Park Pediatric Dentistry, we offer advanced pediatric dental treatments not available at most offices; including all levels of sedation dentistry, CO2 laser procedures, a calming environment, and even a therapy dog, Murphy!

Pediatric Dentists have extensive training that is beyond the standard PhD training that it takes to be a dentist. On average, a pediatric dentist will attend about two more years of education and work that is exclusively with the pediatric population.

Meet Murphy! Our Office Therapy Dog

You’re going to love Murphy! He is our office therapy dog that has quickly become a favorite for his sweet personality and calming influence. He is a multigenerational Goldendoodle and is hypoallergenic.

Murphy was trained by Sarah, with Twin Peaks K9 Academy, to become a dental therapy dog; he is skilled in place training, healing, and more dental specific skills that help him attend to and comfort children during their visit.

Most of the time you will find Murphy on his bed, waiting anxiously for his belly to be rubbed. You can also find him lying on a child’s lap and comforting them while dental work is being completed. Based on your family’s comfort level, Murphy is happily awaiting an invitation to be involved in your child’s dental appointment.
